NextCycle is a collaborative initiative that identifies, recruits, vets, and accelerates projects that focus on waste prevention, material reuse, recycling/composting collection and processing, and developing material end markets. This is done through an Innovation Challenge Accelerator program for new and expanding businesses, organizations, and local governments. Teams that are selected through a competitive application process receive technical and business support to develop business plans and move their projects to investment-ready and implementation-ready status. Some NextCycle programs include tracks based on project type or impact, and some include a track tied to grant funding.
NextCycle is a customizable, state-wide, accelerator-style program led by state and/or local governments and powered by RRS and local partners to nurture ideas and facilitate connections that develop a pipeline of investable projects for public and private sector partners seeking to advance local and regional circularity. RRS designs, implements, and facilitates the program based on the goals of the host location. Its success is due in part to the use of field and communications teams to identify and recruit organizations with ideas, subject matter and industry experts to mentor business planning, and the Renew Partnership Portal to connect those with ideas to resources and funding.
NextCycle includes a public-private partnership network of industry experts, operators, and investors to provide mentorship, advising, financial commitments, and implementation opportunities. The program leverages investments from partners (public and private) to make the dollar go further building regional circularity and completing the circle from collection to local end markets and new products.
