The recycling industry can create local jobs, feed critical end markets, motivate new technology developments, and contribute to tax revenue and total economic output. The RecycleCT Foundation, Inc. sought to better understand the economic contribution of residential recycling in Connecticut. RecycleCT targets and promotes the coordination and support of research and education activities and public information programs aimed at increasing the rate of recycling and reuse in Connecticut.

In 2020, RRS was contracted by Recycle CT to conduct research and analysis to define recycling activities and materials, identify relevant industries, collect data, and perform economic contribution analysis with IMPLAN. The study’s findings have been released including the number of jobs, labor income, and economic output for the residential recycling sector in Connecticut.
