RRS To Support Great Lakes Microplastic Action Network

Wayne State University, in collaboration with Resource Recycling Systems (RRS) and other key partners, has been awarded a $1.19M grant from the Great Lakes Protection Fund to tackle microplastic pollution through the Mobilizing a Great Lakes Microplastic Action Network project. RRS will be crucial in supporting communities by providing expertise in data analysis and strategy development to identify and mitigate microplastic sources. This project will empower local stakeholders to implement effective, data-driven solutions to improve water quality across the Great Lakes region.

“We worked very closely with community partners to build educational materials on microplastics. We want them to reach out to residents, organizations, and businesses so they understand the impact plastic waste can have on the environment and human health,” said Dr. Yongli Wager, the project lead.
